National laws

National legal systems and national laws – shaped both by international law norms and, in EU member states, by EU law – constitute the legal context in which companies operate. National laws create legally binding obligations for companies also in the area of corporate sustainability. However, a genuinely sustainable company does not merely comply with the national laws of the countries in which it operates; it also takes into account voluntary sustainability frameworks.
