JARGONFREE Compass for Sustainable Contracting

The goal: Closing the implementation gap

Many companies already include sustainability-related content in their contracts, (Supplier) Codes of Conduct, policies, and Supplier Requirements. The challenge is that this content often remains difficult to implement, monitor, or translate into everyday practice, especially across supply chains.

This creates an implementation gap: a disconnect between what contracts say – ‘words on paper’ – and what happens in practice.

Module III showed how this gap is created and why it persists. This Module focuses on how to close the gap. It is designed to help companies turn sustainability-related contract content into clear, actionable, realistic, and implementable commitments and requirements across supply chains and contractual relationships.

Sustainability-related content is often already present across companies’ contract stacks. The challenge is making it work in practice. This is where contracts move from words to action.
