Solution 6: From not embedded to embedded in practice
Module III showed that sustainability-related commitments and requirements may fail for many different reasons: they may remain missing, generic, fragmented, difficult to understand, disconnected from operational realities, or unsupported by clear ownership and implementation processes.
Even where sustainability-related content is present, clearly expressed, realistic, and assigned to responsible actors, implementation may still fail if commitments and requirements are not embedded into organisational practice. The challenge is therefore no longer only what contracts say, but whether they are actively used, supported, monitored, and integrated into day-to-day work, processes, and decision-making.
The aim is to move from sustainability-related contract content as ‘words on paper’ towards contracts as practical tools that support coordinated action, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
